New Car Sales Figures – Full Year 2024

1,220,607 new vehicles were sold in Australia in 2024, an increase of 0.3% on 2023 and the best result ever recorded in the country.

December’s numbers recorded 95,895 new vehicles sold during the month which was down on December the previous year by 2.7%.

Industry experts cite higher interest rates and other cost of living pressures for the reduced sales in the back half of the year.

The Car sales figures of over 1.2 million represent more than 2.4 million potential users – buyers and sellers, a scale that underscores the critical need for secure and seamless processes. AutoSettle is launching a platform designed to simplify and safeguard these interactions, ensuring trust and convenience at every step. As the automotive market sets new records, we remain committed to supporting its growth by delivering innovative solutions that enhance the transaction experience for all.

The market is changing. New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES) went into effect on 1 January 2025, but Australians still love their SUVs and Light Commercial vehicles which dominate the market.
